Mortens aften (St. Martin’s Eve) is a traditional Danish celebration with roots in European folklore and celebrated on the day before St. Martin’s day.

The goose or duck tradition is tied to the legendary story of Martin hiding among geese to avoid his bishopric.

The name Morten is the Danish variant of Martin, and Bisp means bishop.

Mortensaften not only offers a delicious culinary experience but also serves as a reminder of humility, generosity, and community in Danish culture.
