On July 3, 2025, the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission in Ispra inaugurated its Danish cultural semester, marking the start of Denmark’s presidency of the EU Council. The official ceremony took place at noon in the piazza of the Europa Science Experience visitor center, attended by Danish and Italian officials, local authorities, academic representatives, and community leaders.

Key figures included Denmark’s Ambassador to Italy, Peter Taksøe-Jensen, and Sabine Henzler, JRC Director Strategy and Impact, among others. The event featured the symbolic handover from Poland’s presidency to Denmark’s, with speeches highlighting Denmark’s priorities for the second half of 2025. The ceremony concluded with a reception showcasing Danish culinary specialties including the famous frikadeller, pølser and kartoffelsalat, and selected Danish beers.

This biannual event strengthens collaboration between the JRC and local institutions while promoting EU intercultural dialogue.
